If you know me well, you know that the Special Olympics is near and dear to my heart. I began volunteering for the Special Olympics when I was 14. I continued to volunteer at events throughout high school and college. I had the amazing opportunity to help out and travel with Special Olympics swimming with my buddy Anthony (you may remember him- I used to take him everywhere with me and he was the ring bearer at my wedding). Working with the talented and dedicated athletes involved in Special Olympics inspired me to become a special education teacher, having worked at Dieruff High School in Allentown for the last 11 years. My colleagues and I will be raising money for the Special Olympics and I hope that you will help by donating even a small amount. Every dollar adds up.
I will be “freezin for a reason” on Saturday, January 17th at the Lehigh Valley Polar Plunge at Scott Park in Easton. I will be jumping into the Delaware River at 12noon, something I may need all the support I can get to actually complete. Come on out and cheer me on!
If you would prefer to make a cash or check donation, please make your check or money order payable to SOPA or Special Olympics PA. Please include my first and last name and “Lehigh Valley Polar Plunge” in the memo line.
Donations can be mailed to the following address:
Special Olympics Pennsylvania
ATTN: Lehigh Valley Polar Plunge
2570 Blvd. of the Generals, Suite 124
Norristown, PA 19403
Thank you for your support and your prayers, I will need them.
